As part of a traffic impact study, an existing unsignalized intersection may be analyzed to determine if the proposed conditions will warrant the installation of a traffic signal. Utilizing the guidelines established in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), we combine engineering judgment as well as PC Warrants software, to analyze the traffic conditions, pedestrian activity and physical characteristics of the location to determine if the intersection meets the warrants established by the MUTCD to install a traffic signal.

Similar analyzes can be performed to assess the warrant for other traffic control devices such as stop signs and warning devices.
